DJI Mini 2 - Review

I have always been drone curious. I have purchased the toy drones, but never felt all of the checkboxes hit for me until the DJI Mini 2 came out. I wanted the video quality/capability of the large drones with a much smaller size. This drone crushes it and delivers almost everything I wanted from a drone. I really liked the idea of having something small enough I could through it in my hiking pack with ease. Well I took it on the first of many hikes and I was blown away with it. Not only is it convenient to carry with me, but it is very quiet. I always want to enjoy my RC hobby while not annoying the general public around me. I feel the sound a drone gives off is a big annoyance to many that are trying to enjoy nature. This drone is so quiet, you could barely hear it 20 feet away. This made me a lot less self conscience about deploying it around others. 

The other aspect I wanted out of a small drone was the ability to fly indoors and through the woods. The small size just makes it more manageable. Make sure when you are flying anywhere you don't want the return to home (RTH) feature to kick in, go into advance settings and switch to Hoover instead of RTH. The Hoover setting will cause the drone to hoover in place if you lose connectivity. If you have RTH on and you lose connection while in a forest or a house, the drone will attempt to go straight up in the air at a minimum of 49ft (depending on what you have your RTH altitude set at). The other consideration is if you are flying in low light, without a GPS signal, your drone will not be as stable since it can't rely on the visual optics. Flying indoors is super fun, and a cool way to make vacation videos to show off your rental home. 

A big decision is to get the fly more package or standard. The big difference in the fly more package is getting two extra batteries, and a charging hub.
